A Message from the Rt. Rev. Thomas L. Kline
Executive Bishop and Chancellor of the Academy
May 8, 2007
I am pleased to announce that the Rev. Dr. Andrew M.T.
Dibb has been appointed Dean of the Theological School, effective July
1. He will succeed the Rev. Eric Carswell, who becomes President
of the Academy on that date.
Andy was born in South Africa. He is married to Cara Glenn Dibb and
they have three children. He graduated from Bryn Athyn College, majoring
in Religion, and was ordained in 1984 after graduating from the Theological
School. He also earned Bachelor and Master’s degrees – with
distinction – plus a Doctorate, all in Church History, from the
University of South Africa.
He has served in Caryndale and in Buccleuch, South Africa, where he
was Dean of the South African Theological School. He has been an assistant
professor in the Academy Theological School since 2002.
Also at the Academy Board of Trustees meetings this past weekend, Dudley
Davis was given the new title as Executive Vice President of the Academy.
The Board unanimously ratified the nominations of Interim President
Brian Keith for one-year extensions for Dr. Charles W. Lindsay as Dean
of Bryn Athyn College and Scott Daum as Principal of the Boys School.
Chuck agreed to the extension beyond the normal tenure for a dean to
provide stability as the governance of the College is worked out. A presidential
search committee for a College President will be activated in the fall.
Scott asked for only a one-year extension as he plans to retire as Principal
at the end of the 2007-08 school year. He agreed to stay on to help Sue
Odhner transition in into her position as Principal of the Girls School.
A committee to find a replacement for Scott will be formed in the near
future.
Re-elected to the Board were: James Adams, Dirk Jungé and Clark
Pitcairn, Bryn Athyn, John Kern and Stewart Smith, Mitchellville, and
Bill McCardell, Rochester, MI. Elected to a new term was Andy Damm, Bryn
Athyn.
